Did you know Australia is home to some of the oldest productive vines in the world?
While doing some research for AWESOMME, I was blown away by how alive our history still is — thanks to generations of passionate growers who’ve cared for these vines like family.
Here are a few of Australia’s living legends
Shiraz – Langmeil Winery (Barossa, planted 1843)
Grenache – Cirillo Estate (Barossa, planted 1848)
Cabernet Sauvignon – Penfolds Kalimna Block 42 (1886–1888)
Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier – Best’s Great Western (1868)
Semillon – Cirillo Estate (1848)
Marsanne – Tahbilk (1927)
Viognier – Yalumba (1980) & Yarra Yering (1982)
It’s amazing to think that some of the wines we enjoy today are made from vines that have seen over a century of Australian sun, soil, and seasons. ☀️
